Skidmore riders are tournament champions in Ohio

FINDLAY, Ohio – Skidmore College equestrian team riders traveled to the University of Findlay to compete in the season’s final Tournament of Champions. After strong rides all day, the team won on a score of 43 over the Reserve Champion team Sacred Heart University – Red Team (42).  Fifteen teams competed from across the Eastern United States.

Kenya Sanders started the show day off with a beautiful ride and a win in the Open Fences, followed by a second for Sadie Nesbitt in the Intermediate Fences. Elise Sigety won the Limit Fences.

Harper Sanford brought another win in the Open Flat, followed by fourth-place rides from Charlotte Lyon in Intermediate Flat and Stella Allen in Novice Equitation. Ani McIntyre was third in Limit Flat, and Bevin Dean won her Introductory Equitation.

Sanders and Sanford competed in the High Medal, a two-phase flat and jumping class, and McIntyre and Sigety competed in the Low Medal. Sanders and Sanford both qualified for the jumping phase, with Sanders winning the class out of 21 riders. McIntyre qualified for the jumping phase of the Low Medal and finished eighth out of 21 riders.

Individual qualifiers compete at the Regional Finals at Skidmore on March 30.  The team and individual qualifiers will travel to Long Island for Zone 2 Finals on April 6.
