Black: Support for Basalt Town Council candidate Hannah Berman

I am writing to express my support for Hannah Berman’s candidacy for Basalt Town Council. I have had the privilege of knowing her through our shared work on climate action, and I can confidently say that she embodies the dedication, passion, and leadership our community needs.

In her role on the Sustainability team at Aspen Skiing Company, she has been a driving force behind initiatives aimed at curbing emissions and building resilience in our mountain community. She has not only advocated for meaningful climate policies locally, but has also taken her advocacy to Washington, D.C., and the state Capitol, ensuring that our voices and needs are heard and represented at every level of government. She understands that climate action is not just about preserving our favorite activities; it’s about protecting the livelihoods of our friends and neighbors who rely on the outdoor recreation industry and will help guide us toward ways our community can help.

Beyond her work on climate, I’m proud of Hannah for stepping up and leaning into local civic engagement. 2024 is going to be a tumultuous year with the upcoming federal elections. Climate, women’s rights, and even our democracy are on the ballot. The path through the chaos starts locally.

We need to bring our community together, and we need everyone. We need young, motivated people to get involved to shape the future we want to live in. What better way to encourage and foster more participation from younger community members than to have your peers elected into our community.

Hannah represents this and so much more.
