Large ad covering windows of O’Connell Street apartments removed following complaints

A large advertisement which was covering the windows of an apartment building on Dublin’s O’Connell Street, has been removed following complaints from residents.
The sign, which blocked the windows on three upper floors of the building, was taken down between 11.40am and 3pm on Monday.
The advertisement, above Thomas Clarke’s pub, was for the KFC Tower Burger which had the slogan ‘Sheer Vertical Volume’.
One resident took to social media prior to the removal of the poster and complained they had been left in darkness and couldn’t open any windows.
“Since Friday our apartment on O’Connell Street just got covered in an advertisement. An absolute disgrace. It’s pitch-black inside because the only windows are on that side,” they said.
“Can’t even open the window anymore. Mistake or not, but how many people were involved in putting this up without thinking that this might be a dumb idea.
“Like renting in Dublin isn’t already fun enough.”
KFC has been approached for comment.
