Letter: Don’t forget about the pets at the Humane Society
I have been a volunteer for the Humane Society for the last month and a half. It was a pleasant experience and I got to see and walk some of the dogs held there. I know they are a nonprofit and exist only by grants and donations.
The building is very old and could use some expansion. Thankfully, Elk River Feed donates their food supply to all the animals. Also, people donate food and equipment at times. The Humane Society collaborates with other animal shelters, and they get dogs from as far as Texas.
It is easy to forget these animals because you don’t see them, but I hope that people will at least volunteer if they can’t donate, and adopt instead of buying a new pet. These animals need some TLC. Thank you.
