Letter: We shouldn’t condone revisionist history

Mark Lewis is right to point out that different interpretations of the same historical event do occur.

But what I feel he fails to point out is that the known facts of the event are generally not subject to “revisionist history.” We know what happened. Why it happened is up for discussion. Regardless of why Jan. 6, 2021, happened at our nation’s Capitol, the events of that day — had they been successful — could have resulted in a significant erosion of our republic’s democratic foundation. Lewis seems to ignore this very important fact about that sad day.

Of course, we are all human. Some will always take the view that bad things are really not so bad or didn’t even happen, such as saying that Jan. 6 was OK or that the Holocaust didn’t happen. This should not surprise. But we should not condone such revisionist history.
