On Wednesday the front moves into central North Carolina, with showers and a possible thunderstorm along with a highs in the mid 50s-lower 60s.

"This front is likely to slow, or even stall, as it begins to run parallel to the upper level flow," Maze said. "Initially, the front won't be a big rain producer, but models indicate a wave of low pressure will develop along the front and move up from the south."

Thursday's rain should taper off by the afternoon. Highs will only be in the upper 50s due to the rain and persistent cloud cover.

Easter weekend looks gorgeous

The Easter weekend is looking glorious with sunshine and highs in the 70s! Both days are expected to stay dry for egg hunts and other outdoor festivities.

"It's possible, if Easter stays bright and dry, some places could hit 80 degrees," Maze said.

Eyes on the sky for 2024 total solar eclipse

We're just a few weeks away from the next total solar eclipse for North America.

We won't see a total eclipse in North Carolina, but lots of people will travel to take it in! Ohio will be the closest spot to drive to from Raleigh for the path of totality.
