The family of 23-year-old Emer O’Loughlin, whose murder remains unsolved, have appealed for information on the 19th anniversary of her violent death.

Ms O’Loughlin was studying art in Galway and living in a mobile home in Ballybornagh on the edge of the Burren in Co Clare when she died in April 2005.

She was off college on April 8, the day of Pope John Paul II’s funeral, when she needed to charge her phone.

Due to an electrical issue with their mobile home, her boyfriend suggested she use the electricity of a neighbouring mobile home to charge her phone.

He left for work and she was never seen alive again, with her father and sister now appealing for answers on RTÉ One’s Crimecall tonight.

The burnt out shell of her neighbour’s mobile home was discovered with human remains inside, with DNA tests later conclusively proving the remains belonged to Emer O’Loughlin and a post mortem in 2010 later concluded that she died a violent death.

Speaking to Crimecall tonight, her sister Pam described her youngest sibling as a “gentle soul” who loved living in the rural part of the country “away from the hustle and bustle”.

Her father Johnny remembers her love of art, photography and how she would take photos of flowers and later draw them.

He remembers hearing the news of the fire as the "worst day of my life" and how he had a sense straight away that foul play was involved in his daughter’s death.

Both are desperate for someone to be held accountable and have fought for justice for many years, with Pam hoping that someone will someday come forward with information the gardaí need.

They will appear on the RTÉ programme tonight and anyone with information is asked to contact Crimecall on 1800 40 50 60 or Gort garda station on 091 636400.

Watch Crimecall tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
