Caught on cam: Texas woman stabbed by 2 small children
A 59-year-old Texas woman is in serious condition after she was stabbed by two small children. Part of the attack was caught on video.
Surveillance video from a neighbor captured at 2:07 p.m. Saturday afternoon shows two small boys on bikes talking with a homeowner.
Neighbors said the woman has a complicated relationship with those who live near her.
"Lately it's been worse as her mental illness gets worse, as her brain gets worse and she does crazier things ... just today she was stealing things from her yard guys and vandalizing her vehicles," said Maddy Monsalve, a neighbor.
The video shows two boys leave after the woman shooed them away. Just 10 minutes later, the boys return.
The younger boy, wearing oversized blue gloves, and the older boy, wearing black gloves, can be seen on camera. The older boy pulls something out of his pants, charging the woman inside her garage and fleeing as she falls to the ground. The boys then leap back on their bikes and ride away.
"Never did any of us think it would be kids from the neighborhood come and attack her," Monsalve said.
Neighbors said, because of the woman's fragile mental state, her family checks on her regularly.
Shortly after the stabbing, the woman's brother came by and found her.
"Her brother came and checked by just to check on her ... he checks on her daily," said Sergio Torres from the Harris County Sheriff's Office, "He just came at the right time, opened the door and saw she was stabbed."
The woman was lifeflighted to a hospital and went into surgery in critical condition.
