CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Burn Boot Camp had a grand reopening party for its Clifton Park location. The family-friendly fitness center is under the new ownership of sisters Jessie Reamer and Erinn St. Croix.
Burn Boot Camp is a national franchise that builds tight relationships with its locations’ local communities. Each camp, or workout session, is 45-minutes long and includes an active warm-up, a workout that is scalable to all fitness levels, and a finisher. Depending on the time of day, some camps include free child watch services.
The Clifton Park location, at 1758 Route 9 in the Parkwood Plaza, celebrated its grand reopening the best way Reamer and St. Croix knew how — with a big, family-friendly party. The sisters welcomed guests and their families with food, a balloon artist, a face painter, a DJ, and an open space where children could run and play.
Amid the fun, the Capital Region Chamber worked in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Chamber Senior Vice President of Community Advancement Pete Bardunias emceed the ceremony as Burn Boot Camp employees, members, and community supporters watched and cheered. Welcoming Reamer and St. Croix officially to the neighborhood were several local and state dignitaries and special guests.
Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett and Deputy Supervisor Tony Morelli wished the sisters good luck and congratulated them on their venture. Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) and state Sen. Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) each presented them with congratulatory citations and offered their support.
“You’re going to do fantastically well,” Walsh said.
“If you’ve got this much energy now, you’re going to be here a long time,” Tedisco added.
Building owner Judy Hillman couldn’t be happier with Burn Boot Camp’s new ownership.
“I’m ecstatic,” she remarked. “They’re bringing in a lot of business. It’s a good draw for the building, and they’re just the best.”
Reamer and St. Croix became the franchise location’s owners after two years as members at the Clifton Park fitness center. They wanted to invest in something together as a team, with health and fitness as a shared goal and found a great opportunity in Burn Boot Camp.
“The previous owner was looking to sell the location, and we made the deal with her,” St. Croix explained. “Everything worked out so well. I think the community here is the best part. Everyone is like family, and the connection to the community is like no other.”
“I’m the most excited to be working with my sister,” Reamer said. “We did this to honor our mom. We wanted to remember her and celebrate her life, and this is the best way to do that. We’re a huge community here, and she was all about community, so we think we’re doing her proud.”
Burn Boot Camp’s Clifton Park location currently has about 460 members, and is hoping to meet its goal of 500 soon. Members can expect new and different workouts at every camp, with a 50/50 mix of cardio and strength training.
“We try to keep everything new and exciting,” St. Croix said.
While free child watch will keep youngsters busy while mom and dad work out, children who are 12 and older are welcome to join their parents during camp.
“That’s so much fun,” St. Croix said. “The kids love it. It’s huge for them, and it sets a great example for good health. We have kids who normally don’t want to do anything with their parents, but they’ll join right in during a workout. And when the schools are closed, a lot of times we’ll offer kids’ camps specifically for the younger kids.”
All fitness levels are welcome at Burn Boot Camp, as every workout can be modified or tailored individually.
Camps are conducted on a unique floating floor that acts as a shock absorber to protect joints and prevent injury. Camps start as early as 4:40 a.m., with the last one held at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 p.m. on Friday. Saturday camps happen at 7, 8, and 9 a.m., and Sundays are closed.
