Neighbors in the Charlotte area are concerned about what they call a questionable AirBNB.

The neighbors said a single-family home on Cliffside Drive in Charlotte is being converted into a seven-to-eight-bedroom home that would charge over $20 per night per room.

The former homeowner, Jordan Keesee, said the current owner never mentioned Airbnb during the sale.

“He told me it was going to be a family home for him, his wife, his mother-in-law and his father-in-law,” Keesee said.

Shortly after the sale, Keesee said he found through an online listing that his home would be an Airbnb with single, short-term rental rooms.

He then confronted the new owner about the ad.

“[I said] ‘You did not tell me this is what you are going to do,’ and he just denied it and said I can do what I want,” Keese said.

The current homeowner listed the home for $23 per night on Airbnb, and neighbors say they’re concerned strangers will be coming and going at all hours of the day.

“I think it is a very reasonable request for families anywhere to feel some sense of safety or letting their kids hang out in the front yard to hang out with other kids,” Keesee said.

The home got the attention of the city of Charlotte.

Code enforcement went to the home on Thursday, and the homeowner denied them entry. Workers told the city they were dividing rooms inside the house for multiple bedrooms.

The city said they would get a search warrant if the owners do not allow an inspector inside again.

Neighbors said they will continue to explore their options.

“Peace of mind is something, I think, people are willing to fight for,” Keesee said.
