Solo Travel’s popularity surge explored at Association of British Travel Agents adventure travel Conference

ABTA’s Adventure Travel Conference, set to take place in central London on April 18th, promises an in-depth look at the burgeoning adventure travel sector. Recent statistics from ABTA reveal a noticeable rise in the popularity of solo travel, with 16% of holidaymakers reporting they traveled alone in the year leading up to August 2023—an increase from 11% in the previous year and a jump from 13% in 2019. The trend is most pronounced among 25-34 year olds, 19% of whom have embarked on solo trips, the highest rate across age groups. Notably, the 35-44 age bracket saw the largest year-over-year growth, with solo traveler figures soaring to 13% in 2023 from 6% in 2022.

Led by Brian Young, Managing Director of G Adventures, the conference will feature insights from leading experts in adventure travel. Attendees will learn about the latest product innovations, marketing tactics, and best practices for creating a sustainable business model. A special session dedicated to travel agents will offer guidance on tapping into the adventure travel market and selling the concept to clients, highlighting the multifaceted opportunities and challenges inherent in this dynamic sector.
