Towards the end of his first pre-match press conference as a manager, John O’Shea was asked if he would be stepping aside for an impassioned speech from Brian Kerr at some stage in the preliminaries.
He didn’t quite rule it out. “At some stage, yeah, there’ll be a point where Brian will talk to the lads, whether that’s today in the hotel or tomorrow,” said O’Shea, who referenced the collaborative nature of preparations involving all of the staff.
