In view of the ongoing works in the capital city under the Smart City Mission, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided to stop collection of pay parking fees from March 24 till May 31.

“As Smart City works are going on in the city and in many places it is not possible to park the cars, we have asked the contractor to stop collecting pay parking fees from Sunday onwards till May 31 so that it does not cause inconvenience to people,” said CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate.

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) has taken up various works in the city under the Smart City Mission due to which various stretches of roads have been dug up which include laying of the new sewerage pipeline for the city.

“There will be no pay parking in the city of Panaji whether it is Patto or any area where CCP is currently charging,” Monserrate said.

He said that in view of the Smart City works that are going on in Panaji, CCP conducted an inspection on Friday.

“They are planning to speed up the pace of work. That will lead to more inconvenience to the people and we do not want to add to that burden,” he said.
