A fire that broke out around 9 a.m at the Sleepy Bear Mobile Home Park destroyed a residence and threatened to spread to neighboring units.

Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue, along with assistance from the West Routt Fire Department, responded and contained the fire.

According to emergency radio traffic, one individual was transported to the hospital.

Yampa Valley Electric Association turned off power for 16 customers in Sleepy Bear in order to allow firefighters to work safely. Power has since been restored.

The manager of the mobile home park, Conrad Morgan, said the trailer was a total loss.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is made available.
