Hillsboro High School is putting on its spring play at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23 at the HMHS Auditorium.
Based on the novel by Jane Austen and adapted for the stage by Claudia Haas, ‘Pride & Prejudice’ is a classic story of love, family, and societal norms. The story is set in England in 1813 and follows the Bennet family. Mrs. Bennet’s main focus seems to be to get her five daughters married. The second eldest daughter, Elizabeth, is the protagonist who is more interested in finding love than a marriage of convenience. Along the way, she encounters suitors such as Mr. Collins, Mr. Wickham, and Mr. Darcy. Meanwhile, the other sisters have their interests: Jane with Mr. Bingley, and Kitty and Lydia with some soldiers. In the end, the story reminds the audience of the dangers of pride and quick judgments.

The way they’ve handled unexpected circumstances and grown in their roles has demonstrated their resilience and dedication,” said Director Leah Rose. “The main characters in this show are rich with depth that provides a rewarding challenge to the actors playing them. I’ve been impressed with the way these students have stepped up to that challenge. Whether you are an avid fan of Pride & Prejudice or have never heard of it, this adaptation presents a story worth seeing.”
