During the Galaxy S24 launch event in January this year, Samsung teased the Galaxy Ring. At MWC 2024, the company showcased the smart ring but didn't reveal many details about the product. Since then, we’ve been slowly and steadily getting more information about it. Today, we have some more information about the Galaxy Ring.

According to a new report from Chosun Biz, Samsung is planning to link Galaxy Ring with Samsung Food and Samsung e-Food Hall. It is also planning to integrate the wearable with smart home appliances, including refrigerators and microwave ovens. Samsung Food is an app that offers food recipes, while Samsung e-Food Hall is a dedicated place on Samsung’s Korean website where you can purchase food items.

Reportedly, the company is planning to do so to create a system that does the following:

    1. Galaxy Ring will measure certain aspects of a user’s health to calculate calorie intake and pass that information to Samsung Food.
    2. Samsung’s smart refrigerators will check the food inside and let Samsung Food know which items are in stock.
    3. Samsung Food will then create a custom diet plan for the user based on the calorie intake figures and food items available inside the Family Hub series refrigerator.
    4. Once you use ingredients from the refrigerator to make the dish recommended by Samsung Food, the system will set the required cooking option in Samsung’s smart microwave ovens so that you don’t have to do it manually.
    5. If any food item is low in stock or has run out of stock in the refrigerator, the system can automatically order it from Samsung’s e-Food Hall.

The whole process sounds very futuristic, and many people would be interested in it. However, to get the experience, all the products involved in the process should come from Samsung. In a way, the company plans to develop a service that will lock people into its ecosystem, just like Apple. Hopefully, we will get to know more about it as the launch of the Galaxy Ring nears. Samsung says it will launch the smart ring by the end of this year.
