A traditional celebration of spring and the start of a new year, Navroz, also known as Novruz or Persian New Year, is observed by many cultures, especially those of Persian and Zoroastrian descent. PM Modi greeted the nation today and wished everyone for their joy and wellbeing.

Taking to social media X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi said, Navroz Mubarak! On this blessed day, he wishses for everyone’s joy and wellbeing. He also said, may the coming year be filled with success, growth and enhance the bond of unity in our society.

The Nowruz festival will take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, this year. However, the United Nations has declared March 21 to be the International Day of Nowruz, highlighting the holiday’s importance to culture and widespread observance.

An annual global festival of zeal and grandeur, Nowruz is a beloved holiday with strong roots in Zoroastrianism. Countless countries, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, India, Iran, Iraq, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, which are situated along the ancient Silk Roads, come alive with colorful celebrations on Nowruz.

The spring equinox and this Iranian or Persian New Year represent rebirth and fresh starts on the Iranian Solar Hijri calendar.

With origins in ancient Persia, Navroz has been observed for more than 3,000 years. It is closely linked to Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest religions in the world. The celebration represents growth, rebirth, and the victory of light over darkness.

The vernal equinox, which signifies the change from winter to spring, is observed on Navroz. It’s a season of renewal and fresh starts, in the natural world and in people’s personal lives. The holiday is observed with a variety of traditions and rituals, such as housecleaning, dressing in new clothes, seeing loved ones, and indulging in traditional foods.

Navroz 2024 wishes

Warmest greetings for a joyous Nowruz to you and your family.

May you and your loved ones experience much joy in this new year. Happy Navroz to you!

Wishing you and your family a joyful Nowruz!

Happy Nowruz! May this occasion mark the beginning of new opportunities.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya was arrested by Bengaluru Police on Tuesday on charge of inciting riots in the state. Karnataka Congress also filed a complaint against him to the State Chief Election Officer for the breach of Moral Code of Conduct. The complaint alleges that Tejasvi’s actions during a protest in Bengaluru, with regard to the recent assault of a shopkeeper, was aimed at inciting religious sentiments and fostering communal hatred. The protest in question started from an assault on a shopkeeper in Bengaluru’s Cubbonpet.

According to reports the shopkeeper was targeted for playing Hanuman Chalisa during the azaan. An FIR registered on March 18 states that he was assaulted for playing loud music. While 3 individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault, the police are investigating Mukesh’s claims that he was targeted for playing the Hanuman Chalisa.

Tejasvi Surya said immediately Mukesh and the neighbouring shopkeepers tried to reach the nearest police station to register an FIR. Even after submitting a detailed written complaint, the local police did not register an FIR. It was only after the intervention of PC Mohan, himself and local BJP leaders that the FIR was registerted at a belated stage. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Police said that during the Azaan time, when a shopkeeper played a song loudly near Siddana Layout, in Bengaluru, an altercation occurred between a group of people and the shopkeeper.

The complaint stated that these actions violated the directives of the Supreme Court and the Election Commission, which prohibits inciting communal, caste and religious sentiments during elections. They gave out calls for Hanuman Chalisa recitation and chanted religious slogans. The police had not given permission for the protest due to the prevailing Model Code of Conduct for elections.
