Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

LT Foods Ltd.(up 10.45%), Jyothy Labs Ltd.(up 3.66%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(up 3.36%), Parag Milk Foods Ltd.(up 3.14%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 2.18%), Colgate-Palmolive(India)Ltd.(up 2.00%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd.(up 1.11%), Zydus Wellness Ltd.(up 1.02%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(up 0.94%) and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.91%) stood among the top gainers.

JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(down 4.40%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 3.16%), Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(down 3.01%), Dodla Dairy Ltd.(down 2.42%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 2.21%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.94%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 1.55%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(down 1.30%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.11%) and Emami Ltd.(down 0.99%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 21.65 points up at 21839.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 89.64 points at 72101.69.

Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 4.22%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.97%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 2.19%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 2.18%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 1.78%), State Bank of India(up 1.73%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 1.61%), ITC Ltd.(up 1.51%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 1.3%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.0%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Steel Ltd.(down 2.09%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.94%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.81%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.53%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.28%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.27%), UPL Ltd.(down 1.22%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.11%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 1.09%) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.97%) closed in the red.
