ORLANDO, Fla. — Early voting wrapped up this weekend, but thousands of Central Floridians are expected to show up at polling places to cast their ballots Tuesday.
The ballots will not just include the Republican presidential primary, but also municipal elections in Orange and Flagler counties.
Florida is one of five states holding its Presidential Preference Primary election on Tuesday. A lot has led up to this moment.
Heading into Tuesday's voting in Orange County, the supervisor of elections office said:
- More than 36,000 voters cast ballots in early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary (that was held for registered Republican voters).
- About 15,000 people voted in person.
- Another 21,000-plus were vote-by-mail ballots.
In Flagler County, elections officials are reporting about an 18% turnout so far, with more than 8,000 early votes and mail-in ballots.
On top of the Presidential Preference Primary, city council or commission races in Orange County also are being contested Tuesday in Apopka, Eatonville, Ocoee, Winter Garden and Winter Park.
Mayoral races in Winter Park and Oakland, as well as charter questions in Eatonville, Edgewood, Maitland and Ocoee, also are on the ballot.
