AWDC Webinar on Easing Sanction Delays

March 19, 24 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) will host a webinar this Thursday (21 March) to explain in detail how the new EU sanctions on Russia affect diamond imports, and how traders can avoid delays in goods being released.
It follows a strongly-worded letter from almost 150 traders in Antwerp last week who described new procedures at the AWDC-run Diamond Office (Customs) as "cumbersome, ineffective, and inefficient".
They said it was taking over a week to release goods, even though they'd been assured it would take only 24 hours.
AWDC says it fully grasps the concerns about potential delays in the release of shipments and has produced a decision tree to guide traders.
All non-industrial diamonds of 1.0-ct or above must be accompanied by an invoice and an air waybill (AWB). Rough diamonds need a Kimberly Process certificate (extra evidence required for mixed origin) and polished need a signed supplier declaration.
The live webinar will take place on Thursday 21 March 2024, 14:00 CET. Click here to register.  A recording will be uploaded to the AWDC website.
