Vasco: The work on the Rs 646 crore bridge connecting the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) to the Baina flyover, which is nearing completion, will be completed by June 30 and the bridge will be thrown open on July 1.
“The project will be of a cable-bridge pattern and on completion we will have to decorate it with lights like the Atal Setu. The project will ease traffic in the Vasco town as the trucks coming with cargo will directly enter the MPA from the bypass and not pass through the town,” said project officials.
The work of port connectivity from Ravindra Bhavan-Baina is under way while the bypass from Varunapuri to Sada is opened. Now, the vehicles entering the port will be directly taking the road to the port and will not disturb the traffic of Vasco town or Sada. The road leading to the MPA will also have a toll collection booth but only for the commercial vehicles entering the port and not for the general public.
Besides, the up-ramp, which is under-construction connecting Vasco town to the Baina over-bridge, will also bring much-needed relief for all. The Baina and Sada traffic will be enter the Vasco town through the ramp, and the traffic from Vasco town can travel to Varunapuri and Dabolim by taking the up-ramp.
