Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) will conduct a full-scale simulated aircraft disaster exercise Tuesday.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires the airport to complete this simulation every three years.
RDU's communications team is participating in the exercise and will only respond to emergencies throughout the day. The training will include a live fire exercise. RDU clarified that his is part of the drill and should not be mistaken for an actual emergency.
Operations will return to normal on Wednesday.
