Panaji/Mapusa: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Goa chief and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade condemned the alleged remark by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against Nari Shakti in the rally of INDIA bloc that was held in Mumbai.
“Congress never gave respect to women and did nothing for women empowerment. On the other hand the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party has given various schemes for women empowerment in the country. The BJP has passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Parliament and also scrapped triple talaq to give dignity to Muslim sisters,” said Tanavade while addressing the media on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Panaji..
Former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar and Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar were also present.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Union Minister Shripad Naik also condemned Gandhi’s comment and said that “no one can destroy the power of santana and that ‘Shakti’ will show the anti-Hindu its real place in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.”
Gandhi’s statement was “improper” and “people will not be silent” and “will show them (Congress) their actual place,” said Sawant.
Further condemning the statement, he said, “Shakti has a place of faith and devotion in Sanatan Dharm. We have many Shakti peethas wherein not only Hindus but others also go. In Goa, we have Shantadurga, Sateri Mata who is worshiped as Shakti. We always salute Mother Nari Shakti.”
Naik said that everyone should follow their religion and not hurt the religious sentiments of others. “At present, some are deliberately trying to create religious discord. Hence, we condemn the statement of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi,” said Naik.
Cong: Shakti transformed Calangute into Thailand
Margao: The Congress described the BJP state president’s statement as ‘master manipulators’, in relation to Rahul Gandhi’s jibe exposing BJP’s ‘Shakti’. “The BJP wields mysterious powers, exemplified by incidents such as circulating vulgar videos from the mobile phone of a deputy chief minister at midnight. Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, highlighted this nefarious ‘Shakti’ of the BJP. He referred to the ‘Shakti’ that transformed Calangute into Thailand and turned Goa into a crime hub,” remarked Congress leader and ZP member Michelle Rebelo.
She emphasized, “The BJP’s ‘Shakti’ has rendered the once peaceful state of Goa unsafe for women. We have a cabinet minister who was openly accused of being a ‘rapist’ by none other than the Chief Minister. We will persist in questioning the BJP’s ‘Shakti’ which has neglected to investigate the mysterious death of Siddhi Naik. We will persist in questioning the BJP’s ‘Shakti’ which has excluded three women MLAs from cabinet ministerial positions.”’
