Mild Monday ahead of possible freeze tonight
After a pleasant St. Patrick's Day, things will be cool Monday morning ahead of a possible freeze tonight.
This morning, we'll be between the upper 40s and low 50s.
Things will stay that way for much of the day, but we'll reach the upper 50s for our highs today.
A cold front crossed the area Sunday, bringing cooler air for Monday and a far colder air mass for Tuesday.

Looking ahead: Freeze watch issued for Monday night
Don't put your jacket away just yet. We'll see a cool down again next week after a cold front moves through Sunday night.
A freeze watch will be in effect Monday night.

Light scattered showers will clear and give way to a chilly night with a light frost or freeze possible in some areas. Lows will be in the 30s.

By Wednesday, we'll be back in the 70s.
Our next rain system will be arriving Friday and will linger into the weekend.
"This disturbance will bring scattered showers that may last into the first part of the weekend," Baglione said. "We'll have to fine tune the timing as we get closer."

Pollen count on the rise
The pollen count may irritate your allergies this weekend. On Saturday, the main threat will be tree pollen.
The pollen forecast doesn't look much better over the next couple of days.

The tree pollen count will be "very high" Sunday and Monday. So make sure you've got your allergy meds on hand.
"The next pollen-washing rain looks like it could be next Friday," said WRAL Meteorologist Mike Maze.

Eyes on the sky for 2024 total solar eclipse
April 8 is the date of the next total solar eclipse for North America. We won't see a total eclipse in North Carolina, but lots of people will travel to take it in! Ohio will be the closest spot to drive to from Raleigh for the path of totality.
