Darwin Nunez has withdrawn from Uruguay's squad for the international break due to reported discomfort in his hamstring.

The 24-year-old played the full 120 minutes of Liverpool's 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

Nunez has experienced hamstring problems this season and it has been widely reported he has complained of discomfort.

As a result, he spoke to Uruguay boss Marcelo Bielsa and it has now been decided that he will drop out of their squad.

He will therefore miss friendlies against the Basque County and the Ivory Coast over the coming days.

Nunez, who assisted two goals in the defeat at United, has already played 42 matches across all competitions this season.

The forward has shown immense improvement from his first season at Liverpool as he sits on 17 goals and 14 assists.

He has also featured six times for Uruguay during the campaign but will miss out on their upcoming fixtures in order to rest.
