Directed by Vikas Bahl, the Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan-starrer psychological horror thriller has entered the Rs 100 crore club, in less than a week, in India. The Ajay Devgn-led film has been receiving a good response from the audience and stood steady even with the big budget release of the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Yodha in its second week. According to the latest report on Sacnilk.com, the film has now crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office on its 10th day, which is a Sunday.
According to a report by Sacnilk.com, Shaitaan reached the milestone on its fifth day, Tuesday. The report states that Shaitaan has collected around Rs 9.75 crore on its second Sunday. The film had shown a jump in collection on the second weekend, grossing Rs 93.57 crore by Day 9. Now, the total collection is estimated to stand at Rs 103.05 crore.
The report also added that Shaitaan had 37.19% Hindi occupancy on Sunday. On Wednesday, the supernatural film reported an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 13.08%, with night shows witnessing the highest occupancy at 18.91%. Notably, Chennai recorded the highest occupancy, trailed by cities like Jaipur and Pune.
According to another report on the website, Shaitaan added roughly Rs 6.25 crore to its India collection on its sixth day, Wednesday, taking its total to Rs 74 crore nett in India, as per early estimates.
Also starring Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala and Anngad Raaj in significant roles, Shaitaan is produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak under the banners Jio Studios, Devgn Films and Panorama Studios. The film revolves around a family held hostage at their home by a man with supernatural powers. Ajay and Jyothika play husband and wife in the film, whereas R Madhavan plays the role of the antagonist. The film is a Hindi remake of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash, written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.
The Rs 100-crore club entry makes Shaitaan the third Hindi movie to do so in the same year, after Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's Fighter and Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon-starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Shaitaan has also clinched the third spot among the highest-grossing films of 2024 while continuing to generate box office revenue at an impressive run rate.
This is Ajay Devgn's third consecutive film to hit the century mark, after Drishyam 2 and Bholaa. This is south actor Jyothika's very first Rs 100 crore film, who marked her Bollywood comeback after more than two decades. While for R Madhavan, it is his third film in the prestigious club. Director Vikas Bahl also scored his second Rs100 crore grosser after 2019's Hrithik-starrer Super 30 (2019).
