Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Karma Energy Ltd.(up 5.00%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(up 5.00%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 4.98%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 4.92%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 3.66%), Tata Power Company Ltd.(up 3.16%), Torrent Power Ltd.(up 2.98%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 2.60%), KEC International Ltd.(up 1.54%) and NLC India Ltd.(up 1.37%) stood among the top gainers.

RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 4.10%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(down 3.54%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(down 3.49%), GE Power India Ltd.(down 3.34%), Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(down 3.30%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(down 3.27%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 3.21%), PTC India Ltd.(down 2.78%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 2.78%) and Suzlon Energy Ltd.(down 2.16%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 32.36 points up at 22055.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 104.99 points at 72748.42.

Tata Steel Ltd.(up 5.65%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 3.15%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 3.05%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 2.82%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 2.57%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.05%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.59%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 1.5%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.49%) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.43%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 2.08%), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.92%), UPL Ltd.(down 1.92%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.59%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 1.48%), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.32%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.28%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.23%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.2%) and Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.9%) closed in the red.
