Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed they have put their purchase of Reading's training ground on hold.

Last week, Royals fans were outraged to learn their deeply unpopular chairman Dai Yongge had put Bearwood Park up for sale.

Fans put up protest banners outside of their own training ground as well as Wycombe's and organised a protest outside Wycombe's Adams Park stadium on Friday evening.

Wycombe had made a proposal to purchase the grounds off their League One rivals for half of what it was built.

But now, the Chairboys have confirmed the deal has reached a stumbling block.

Their statement on Monday read: "Wycombe Wanderers Football Club are putting on hold provision for funding to Reading Football Club and the acquisition of the Bearwood Park training facility from its owners.
