Spirits were positive ahead of the quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.

A heavyweight knockout was guaranted on the pitch - and potentially off it too with Tyson Fury in attendance.

But on the touchline United mascot Fred the Red picked a losing battle as he attempted to increase the cheers pre-match.

Spotting Keane, on duty for ITV, having a quick break, Fred swooped in clearly offering a hand out for a high-five.

The former United captain wasn't having any of it though.

He barely budged as Fred arrived on the scene.

The mascot then put a potentially ill-advised arm around Keane.

This provoked a smirk and a laugh from Liverpool hero Graeme Souness who was standing next to the scene.
