OAKVILLE – Roy R. Schultz, 86, of Oakville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice Schultz.
Roy was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late William and Diane (Hunter) Schultz, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves out of school. Following his discharge, Roy worked for several companies in the area until he found his niche. He went to work for Pratt & Whitney in the Southington facility, and remained there until his retirement. Roy was also a dedicated member of Federal Lodge 17 Masonic Temple of Watertown. He was especially dedicated to his family, from playing basketball and baseball in the yard to attending every concert, Boy Scout and sporting event his sons were in. His grandchildren were even more precious to him, and he enjoyed every minute he had with them.
Roy is survived by his sons Jonathan (Shelley) of Oakville, and Robert (Michelle) of South Carolina; as well as his grandchildren Amanda Schultz of California, Kristina Tighe (Zachary) of Bristol, Corey Schultz (Jordan) of New Haven, and Kaitlyn Schultz of South Carolina. He is also survived by his great-grandson Brayden Tighe, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, with burial and military honors to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. The Schultz family would like to thank all of the staff at Apple Rehab. Dad was well cared for by “his girls” and we are thankful for an exceptionally dedicated group of caretakers.
