Bracket Watch
The race for the final No. 1 seed could look like a game of checkers for the next two to three days. Tennessee and North Carolina entered their respective conference tournaments in a virtual tie for the spot. The Tar Heels pasted Florida State in their ACC quarterfinal while the Vols were idle, slipping ahead of Tennessee at least for the time being. The Vols play first on Friday, so we could see another swap before Carolina takes the floor Friday night in the ACC semifinals. If both teams win out, it says here the edge goes to Tennessee as its SEC wins will be of more value than whatever UNC can muster in the ACC. The Tar Heels have more to lose, however, as their likely path as a 2-seed would be in the East Region opposite UConn. That potential Elite Eight game would take place in Boston, which would be an advantage for the defending champion Huskies.
