Colchester United have taken advantage of a loophole to change their pitch before a crucial clash in League Two.

The U's have been forced to postpone their last two home games at the Colchester Community Stadium due to a waterlogged pitch.

It has led to the club requesting permission from the EFL to reduce the size of their pitch.

There is a rule that allows such a change despite being in the middle of the season in order to fix drainage problems.

And with Colchester set to face Walsall on Saturday, it could prove crucial with the Essex outfit sitting 23rd in the league.
