Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War Netflix, streaming now Any American who sports an ‘I’d rather be Russian than a Democrat’ T-shirt at a Trump rally should be invited to view this docuseries, featuring interviews with Nato’s Jens Stoltenberg. It focuses on the development of the atomic bomb and the dramatic increase of nuclear weapons, before tracing the Cold War — from the Soviet Union collapse to Vladimir Putin’s rise and his invasion of sovereign nation Ukraine.
Blown Away
Blown Away Netflix, streaming now What do you get when you mix sand, lime and soda with 2,000C heat? Works of art that shatter if you look a them sideways. That can only mean one thing... the grittiest, sweatiest, and quite literally the hottest competition show Netflix has ever sent us to sear our eyeballs is back with season four and a brand new host. And, sadly, it’s not previous guest presenter Bobby Queer Eye Berk. Gone is former Big Brother USA fodder and science YouTuber Nick Uhas. Instead, Hunter March has been ushered in. Indeed, from blown sugar to blown glass, March’s impressive set of pearly whites has swapped the saccharine backdrop of Sugar Rush and Sugar High for the far more murky confines of the Blown Away hot shop. Returning to judge is resident expert and glass master Katherine Gray. This time around, we have 10 contestants (all “likely to pass out before I quit”) vying for the biggest prize pot yet.
Full Swing Netflix, streaming now The cameras return for season two, as this immersive docuseries follows “a diverse group of professional golfers” on and off the course. With that unexpected agreement between all the tours known to humanity, expect to gain access to all the pros, including Rory, Jordan, Scottie, Brooks and more.
Supersex
Supersex Netflix, streaming now This is a weird one. But if you fancy watching an Italian biopic of a notorious porn star who learned everything he needed to know about sex from his brother, then perhaps this is for you? Directed by Matteo Rovere, Francesco Carrozzini and Francesca Mazzoleni, it’s inspired by the life of Rocco Siffredi. Ricky Stanicky Prime Video, streaming now Zac Efron’s foray into juvenile ‘brovies’ (bro movies; you heard it here first, folks) continues unabated. Here, he joins forces with Andrew Santino and Jermaine Fowler as a trio of childhood besties who pull an epic prank, the effects of which are still reverberating two decades on. If it’s more Oscar-nominated fair you’re after, Disney+ is now streaming Poor Things.
ARA San Juan: The Submarine That Disappeared
ARA San Juan: The Submarine That Disappeared Netflix, streaming now In 2017, Argentine naval submarine ARA San Juan disappeared from radars with 44 crew members on board. To this day, it’s still unclear what happened. The Gentlemen Netflix, streaming now Guy Ritchie has his mitts all over this eight-parter, serving as executive producer, creator, co-writer, and featured director. He’s even got Vinnie Jones in it. As for the premise? Theo James (The White Lotus) stars as Eddie Horniman who inherits an empire from his estranged father — only to learn it’s an illegal cannabis farm.
Extraordinary
Extraordinary Disney+, streaming now Season two follows Jen (Máiréad Tyers) on her super ability journey. Enrolling as a client at the power clinic, she realises the process of finally sourcing her superpower isn’t as easy as she hoped. Damsel Netflix, streaming now Sometimes, a handsome prince just wants to feed you to a deadly dragon.
