Chelsea vs Arsenal delayed in Women’s Super League due to bizarre kit issue

The Women's Super League clash between Chelsea and Arsenal has been delayed by 30 minutes because of a kit clash.

But the match was delayed indefinitely after Arsenal rocked up in a kit that officials said was too similar to Chelsea's.

After some frantic searching for alternative kits, it was announced that the new kick-off time would come 30 minutes later - at 7.30pm.

Considering that the two sides are almost opposites in colours in blue and red, the Gunners eventually found their classic red home kit and wore them instead.

They did, however, have to wear dark blue socks that appeared to be from Chelsea's away kit with the Blues' emblem covered.

Taking to X, Ian Wright couldn't hide his annoyance, saying: "Embarrassing this. Ridiculous."

FA rules on shirts are as follows - The two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other and the match officials.

Each goalkeeper must wear colours that are distinguishable from the other players and the match officials.

If the two goalkeepers’ shirts are the same colour and neither has another shirt, the referee allows the match to be played.
