The forthcoming strike organized by the trade union ver.di is anticipated to significantly disrupt flight operations and result in numerous cancellations at Cologne/Bonn Airport on Thursday, March 14th. As per the latest update at 5:15 p.m., a total of 71 passenger flights (50 departures, 21 arrivals) are expected to be affected during the 24-hour strike period. Additionally, there is a possibility of further cancellations or flight diversions. Originally, 136 passenger flights (69 departures, 67 arrivals) were scheduled for Thursday.
Passengers holding bookings for flights to or from Cologne/Bonn on Thursday are advised to verify the status of their flights with their respective airlines or tour operators prior to heading to the airport.
The strike, initiated by ver.di, encompasses security staff at various German airports, including Cologne/Bonn Airport, amid ongoing wage discussions concerning aviation security personnel. According to the union’s directive, security personnel at passenger checkpoints are urged to refrain from work throughout Thursday, from midnight to midnight.
