Profits surge at Suzanne Jackson beauty firms
Suzanne Jackson's Cohar Ltd acquired SanFran Cosmetics Ltd, the company she operates with Fran O’Gorman
Profits continued to increase at companies co-owned by Suzanne Jackson, the businesswoman behind the SoSueMe style brand, in 2022.
Two sets of accounts recently filed show increased profits as separate documentation shows that Ms Jackson’s Cohar Ltd acquired SanFran Cosmetics Ltd, the company she operates with Fran O’Gorman, on January 30 of this year
The documentation confirming the merger by acquisition as part of a business reorganisation shows that 2023 was a bumper year for SanFran Cosmetics Ltd as its total assets had increased to €8.8m at the end of December last
Ms Jackson is one of the country's most high-profile businesswomen. The former Dancing With the Stars contestant's SoSueMe Facebook page has 330,000 followers and a weekly reach of over five million.
Ms Jackson has 301,000 followers on Instagram while she has also presented The Style Counsellors on RTÉ. The 39-year old business woman set up the SoSueMe blog in 2010 at the age of 25.
Ms Jackson's Sosu Cosmetics is stocked by major retailers such as Primark, Boots and online global fashion heavyweights such as Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo.com.
Underlining the business’s continued progress, accounts filed by Ms Jackson’s Cohar Ltd show that it recorded post-tax profits of €303,328 in 2022. This resulted in the company’s accumulated profits rising from €5.25m to €5.56m in 2022.
The accounts – signed off by Suzanne Jackson and Dylan O’Connor on February 26 – show that during 2022, the firm’s cash funds dipped from €3.18m to €2.93m.
Numbers employed by the firm remained static at 10 and staff costs, excluding directors’ remuneration, almost doubled, rising from €380,460 to €741,825. Pay to directors increased more from €62,500 to €272,225.
Separate accounts filed for Ms Jackson’s joint venture with Fran O’Gorman, Sanfran Cosmetics, show that it recorded post-tax profits of €199,843 in 2022.
This resulted in accumulated profits rising from €6.25m to €6.45m in 2022. The firm's cash funds decreased from €2.2m to €1.3m. Numbers employed by SanFran Cosmetics decreased from 39 to 20 as staff costs increased from €569,086 to €654,672.
The accounts were signed off by Ms Jackson and Fran O’Gorman on February 26 and aggregate pay to directors more than halved in 2022 from €1.16m to €450,000.
