Expected Goals isn’t a new tool to measure the quality of a goalscoring opportunity but WhoScored.com have sought to take the stat to the next level.

Not only is xG now available on WhoScored.com, they have made it so users can sort by over and underperformance of a player’s xG in their respective league.

So which stars are taking their chances - and which are fluffing their lines?

Here, WhoScored.com run through the top 10 players who are overperforming their xG across Europe's top five leagues.

These are the players who have scored more than their Expected Goals average across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 of those to have managed more than 30 shots.

10. Donyell Malen - Borussia Dortmund

Having initially struggled in Germany, Donyell Malen is really shining for Borussia Dortmund this season.

The Dutchman has already enjoyed his most prolific Bundesliga campaign of his career and we're only in mid-March.

Malen has scored 11 league goals this term, but an Expected Goals haul of 7.49 means an xG overperformance of 3.51 is the 10th best in Europe's top five leagues.
