Axalta unveils Starry Night as 2024 Global Automotive Colour of the Year

Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global coatings company, has announced Starry Night as its 2024 Global Automotive Colour of the Year. This latest edition marks a decade since Axalta introduced its first Automotive Colour of the Year and represents the company's first venture into featuring a black shade.

Starry Night embodies a bold and contemporary aesthetic, combining a dynamic black hue with light blue and silver flakes that evoke the mysteries of the universe and the spirit of space exploration. The choice of black reflects not only a sense of elegance but also signifies bold imaginations and the relentless pursuit of new horizons. As a versatile colour, Starry Night seamlessly blends with both classic and modern design styles, offering a unique harmony with various colours, finishes, patterns, and textures.

Dan Benton, Global Colour Marketing Director at Axalta, speaking on the announcement said “Black is the second most popular automotive colour globally and we’re excited to feature a black shade as our 2024 Global Automotive Colour of the Year. Starry Night is a hue where black is bright and dark is distinguished. This year’s colour is part cosmic and part classic, but all Axalta.”

Since its inception in 2015 with Radiant Red, Axalta's Global Automotive Colour of the Year has become an annual tradition, with the company's team of colour experts collaborating to introduce trending and innovative shades for the automotive industry.
