Starting 12th March 2024, Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus are initiating a codeshare agreement. This partnership will expand customer access to a wider range of destinations throughout the UK and Ireland, and offer benefits to travelers around the world, including in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and New Zealand.
Under this agreement, Qatar Airways will share its codes on flights operated by Aer Lingus, Ireland’s national airline, and Aer Lingus Regional. This collaboration is part of Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to extend its partnerships with the International Airlines Group (IAG), making it the latest airline to join Qatar Airways’ network of IAG codeshare partners, which already includes British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, and now Aer Lingus. This move reinforces Qatar Airways’ stronghold in the European aviation market.
The codeshare arrangement facilitates seamless travel connections between Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus flights, linking cities through major hubs in Dublin, London, and Manchester. Travelers will have the convenience of moving between various Irish and UK locations such as Aberdeen, Belfast, Cork, and Glasgow, and connecting to Qatar Airways’ expansive global network via the Hamad International Airport in Doha.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said: “Our new codeshare partnership with Aer Lingus demonstrates Qatar Airways’ commitment to its customers, who will benefit from a wider choice of global destinations. The move also builds on our long-term strategic relationship with IAG as we expand our codeshare coverage even further. It is an exciting opportunity to extend our exceptional service to even more travellers through this partnership.”
Aer Lingus Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, Reid Moody said, “We’re pleased to launch our new codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways, offering their customers a great choice of routes and destinations on Aer Lingus’ extensive network of flights across the UK and Ireland. Customers can expect a warm welcome and friendly service and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
This comes on the heels of the strategic alliance’s recent growth involving Qatar Airways, British Airways, and Iberia, providing worldwide connectivity across more countries than any other airline partnership.
