West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday decided to snap all ties with her brother Babun Banerjee, who opposed Trinamool Congress’s  candidate Prasun Banerjee from Howrah Lok Sabha seat.

Responding to Babun’s statement, Mamata said he is no longer her brother, today onwards. Snapping all her ties, she said that her family and she have distanced themselves from him. He has forgotten how he was raised when their father passed away. He was merely 2.5 years and Mamata was earning Rs 35 and raised him, TMC supremo said.

Babun, Mamata’s younger brother on Wednesday expressed unhappiness over the TMC again giving a ticket to Prasun from Howrah Lok Sabha seat.

Babun said he was not happy with the selection of the candidate from Howrah Lok Sabha seat. Prasun Banerjee was not the right choice. There were many capable candidates who were overlooked, he added.

She also said that there are a total of 32 people in her family but she does not considered him a memeber of her family. From now onwards, no one will introduce him as her brother, she said.

Earlier on March 6, Mamata slammed BJP for making attempts to defame West Bengal and arrest leaders of TMC. She said the agencies claim that the BJP has instructed them to arrest Trinamool leaders. She said the BJP has forcefully sent the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI.

Speaking to the media, Banerjee said if the BJP wants to win then they have to move forward by earning the trust of the people. She said the people of Bengal want free and fair elections and not BJP elections. The Chief Minister said Bengal is a place where impartial elections are possible.

Earlier on March 10, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC announced 42 candidates for the upcoming general elections in Bengal, making it official there is no alliance with the INDIA bloc parties in the State.

TMC party announced its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at a grand rally held at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. This was the first time the party had made such an announcement in this manner.
