The United States House of Representatives has approved a bill compelling ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, to sell its operations in the U.S. or face a ban, with a resounding vote of 352 to 62.

This legislation, known as the "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act," highlights bipartisan concerns over national security risks associated with Chinese-controlled apps and their potential to access sensitive American data.

Despite opposition from influential figures like Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jim Himes, President Biden's indication of support has reignited discussions surrounding TikTok's future in the U.S., underscoring the complex intersection of technology, national security, and free speech.
