Ireland claimed six out of seven races on Day One of Cheltenham 2024, with Willie Mullins training three of the victors.

Day Two also proved fruitful as Mullins claimed another hat-trick, making it 100 Festival wins for the Kilkenny trainer.

Here’s how the action unfolded.

Well that’s my lot. As always, thanks for joining me. Tomorrow promises to be another action-packed afternoon, and we will be back to provide you with all the information you need to navigate your way through Day Three of the Cheltenham Festival.

"I thought my lifetime achievement was when I had a winner here in Cheltenham in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle back in 1995 and who ever dreamt any trainer, never mind me, could do it."

So it turned out to be another hugely successful day for the travelling Irish, spearheaded by that man Willie Mullins.

Starting off with two consecutive wins - Ballyburn in the Novices' Hurdle and Fact To File in the Novices' Chase - Mullins then watched El Fabiolo slip up and was made to wait until the last race of to seal win number 100.

As fate would have it, Mullins' son Patrick took his Cheltenham Festival victories into triple figures, with Jasmin De Vaux in the Champion Bumper.

Rachael Blackmore celebrated her triumph in the day's feature race, the Champion Chase, on Captain Guinness, and there was at least some consolation for the British trainers as brothers Dan and Harry Skelton enjoyed a double - in the Coral Cup Hurdle and the Grand Annual Chase.

Patrick Mullins secures the Champion Bumper with Jasmin De Vaux (9/2) to hand his father Willie 100 Cheltenham Festival wins!

It just had to be, didn't it. What a moment for the Mullins family and how fitting that it's Patrick who secures the milestone victory.

Romeo Coolio (18/1) and Jalon D'oudairies (3/1) are second and third respectively for Gordon Elliott.

As they make their way home, Romeo Coolio has gone out in front but Jasmin De Vaux is also on the move.

Travelling at 29mph, Teeshan leads by two lengths from Quebecois but they're pretty clustered together.

The flag has been raised and, for one final time today, the runners and riders are off.

We’ve just one more race to bring you, and that’s the Champion Bumper (5.30pm).

Wayne Bailey is tipping the Jack Kennedy and Gordon Elliott partnership on Jalon Doudairies (3/1f), while Michael Verney has singled out You Oughta Know (11/2).

However, our man Patrick Mullins has a real shot onboard Jasmin De Vaux (15/4).

Willie Mullins still has a great opportunity to get over the line and reach that 100th win today as eight of the 19 runners are his.

Dan Skelton, trainer of Unexpected Party: "He got a great start. We wanted to come to this race last year and I'm not saying he would have won it because his form since wasn't really good enough.

"I thought he had a chance today, but no more than a chance, and I think that was a great ride."
Dylan O'Connell
The Grand Annual Chase goes to Unexpected Party (12/1)!

It's a double for Dan and Harry Skelton. Libberty Hunter (6/1) finishes second and Path D'Oroux (10/1) crosses third for Meath trainer Gavin Cromwell.

It’s Gemirande from Unexpected Party and Harper’s Brook with three fences left to jump.

Gemirande strides out in front, a couple of lengths ahead of the chasing pack.

The tape is out across the course but a couple of the horses are a little too eager and they are forced to make a couple of turns. Eventually, the flag is up and they’re off in the Grand Annual Chase.

We’ve had a false start as a number of the 16 runners have come in too early.

Let's try that again.

The penultimate race of Day Two is the Grand Annual Chase (4.50pm). Ridden by Mark Walsh for Willie Mullins and JP McManus, Saint Roi (9/2f) is the market leader and our man Patrick Mullins fancies the nine-year-old as an each-way bet.

Another big Irish hope is the Gordon Elliott-trained Sa Fureur (9/2) and Jack Kennedy, but Michael Verney likes the look of Madara (11/2).

Willie Mullins, in an interview with Racing TV, reacts to the Champion Chase and El Fabiolo's performance:

"The first few fences, I wasn't at all happy. There was no point in going on. Hopefully there is Aintree and Punchestown and hopefully he is sound. He looked okay coming in."
Dylan O'Connell
A delighted Rachael Blackmore, speaking to ITV Racing/Virgin Media Sport:

“He travelled incredibly, he jumped really well. The hill felt like a long hill today. It’s just incredible. He has been knocking on the door in these big races and this is the biggest in his division.”

Dylan O'Connell
Captain Guinness (17/2) and Rachael Blackmore land the Champion Chase for Henry de Bromhead!

Huge drama in the feature race and last year's runner-up goes one better to clinch it. Gentleman De Mee (16/1) is second for Willie Mullins, who will be extremely disappointed with how things panned out for El Fabiolo.

100/1 shot Funambule Sivola was a long way back in third.
