Portsmouth player scores cheeky Panenka penalty after one of the worst misses you’ll ever see

Portsmouth forward Kusini Yengi went from zero to hero after committing one of the worst misses of all time.

Yengi was facing Burton Albion at Fratton Park on Tuesday night when he endured a moment to forget in the first half of the League One clash.

Pompey were chasing the opening goal of the game as they swept forward with the ball reaching Paddy Lane on the right wing.

Playing a perfect ball into the box, fans were waiting for the net to bulge as the pass was played to Yengi at the far post, however the Australian striker endured a moment to forget.

With an open goal in front of him, the 25-year-old somehow managed to screw his effort wide of the mark from with a miss that will not be forgotten easily.

Having been named as a replacement for Colby Bishop, many would have expected Yengi to want the ground to swallow him up, but that wasn't the case.

Yengi looked to right his wrong and nearly teed up Marlon Pack to give Portsmouth the lead moments later, before the striker's big opportunity arose from the penalty spot.

Such is the striker's confidence, Yengi put himself forward to take the kick and converted with the most outrageous Panenka that you're likely to see.

That goal meant that Portsmouth went 1-0 on a night where they were guaranteed to maintain top spot in League One.

And Yengi carried on his good form in the second half as he scored his and Portsmouth's second in the 63rd minute to give them a 2-0 cushion.
