Damodar EHS, Guddi-Paroda edged out St Anthony HS of Monte de Guirim in a tie-breaker to claim the sub-junior state hockey title on the Astro Turf at Peddem, Tuesday.

St. Anthony drew first blood through Sairam’s 10th minute strike. Damodar equalized via Amit’s goal. The final quarter saw a goalfest as Shaieh and Gaurve put Damodar 3-1 up. However, St Anthony showed character to level the scores at 3-3 thanks to goals from Gopal and Raju forcing a shootout.

In the shootout, Damodar held their nerve with Shaieh, Gaurve and Amit all finding the back of the net. Despite efforts from Krishna and Pandu, it wasn’t enough for St. Anthony as Damodar EHS triumphed.
