For those who want solar powered rooftops on their homes. It has been announced that up to 300 units of electricity will be free every month. It is noteworthy that the Union cabinet approved this new project on february 29, 204 at a cost of about 75,021 crores.


How does this program work?


The initiative provides 60% subsidy on solar unit cost for systems up to 2 KW capacity and 40% subsidy on additional system cost for 2 to 3 KW capacity systems. The subsidy is limited to a maximum capacity of 3 kW. At current standard rates, it is a subsidy of Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW system and Rs 78,000 for a 3 kW or above system.

Who is eligible to apply for this scheme?


First the applicant must be a citizen of India


Second is to own a house with a roof suitable for installing solar panels.


Thirdly the house should have proper electrical connection.


Fourthly the family should not have received any other subsidy for solar panels.


What is the procedure for getting grant?


First register on the respective portal


Select your state and electricity supply company


Enter your electricity consumer number, mobile number and email.


Login with consumer number and mobile number and apply for rooftop solar as per the form.


Once the installation is complete, submit the plant details and apply for net meter. After inspection by net meter and discom, commission certificate will be issued from the portal.


On receipt of commission report. Submit bank account details and canceled check through the portal. You will receive your grant in your bank account within 30 days
