Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Future Consumer Ltd.(up 5.56%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.98%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd.(up 1.97%), Colgate-Palmolive(India)Ltd.(up 1.10%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.99%), Jyothy Labs Ltd.(up 0.73%), Zydus Wellness Ltd.(up 0.58%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.33%) and Heritage Foods Ltd.(up 0.06%) stood among the top gainers.

Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 12.02%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 6.49%), Prataap Snacks Ltd.(down 6.09%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 4.13%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(down 3.98%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 3.25%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(down 3.17%), LT Foods Ltd.(down 2.88%), Patanjali Foods Ltd.(down 2.69%) and Adani Wilmar Ltd.(down 2.65%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 160.9 points down at 22332.65, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 616.75 points at 73502.64.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 2.58%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.98%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.44%), Cipla Ltd.(up 1.42%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 1.02%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.01%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.99%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.41%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 0.4%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.34%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 3.25%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.48%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.43%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 2.42%), State Bank of India(down 1.83%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.48%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.46%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.27%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.23%) and NTPC Ltd.(down 1.21%) closed in the red.
