A 32-year-old man is dead following what Camas police referred to as “an unfortunate workplace accident” at the Georgia-Pacific paper mill in downtown Camas Friday, March 8.

According to Sgt. Chuck Nadgwick with the Camas Police Department, a call came in from the mill around 5 p.m. Friday, reporting an industrial accident had occurred.

First-responders from the Camas Police Department and the Camas-Washougal Fire Department discovered a 32-year-old employee dead at the scene, Nadgwick reported.

“His death was due to a workplace accident involving heavy machinery,” police stated in a news report released to The Post-Record Monday morning.

Nadgwick said police have finished their investigation into the man’s death and concluded it was accidental in nature.
