The state unemployment rate remains relatively low but has risen significantly since hitting a historic low last summer, the latest report from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services shows.
The agency previously estimated Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate for December at 3.4% but has now revised that month’s figure upward to 3.7%. The rate remained at 3.7% in January.
That places Arkansas on par with the U.S. unemployment rate, which has been 3.7% for the last three months. Just a few months ago, Gov. Sarah Sanders was touting the disparity between the state and national figures, saying unemployment in Arkansas was “a full point below the U.S. average.”
