Ezri Konsa pointed at his head towards John McGinn after he was sent off for a shocking tackle against Tottenham.

The Aston Villa captain was given his marching orders just past the hour mark for late lunge on Destiny Udogie.

Udogie was about to run clear of the midfielder, who then whacked his leg out from underneath him in what was a cynical foul.

McGinn was then shown a red card with his side already trailing 2-0 at home after goals from James Maddison and Brennan Johnson.

As he walked off the pitch, McGinn looked back and saw Konsa, who then pointed to his head.

The defender appeared to be disappointed his captain had lost his head, with Villa being made to pay late on.

Substitute Timo Werner then scored their fourth of the afternoon as the hosts fell to a seventh league defeat.

McGinn, who has proven key for Villa this season, was sent off for the club for the first time since he joined in 2018.

He made his 41st appearance of the season against Spurs but now looks set for a spell out through suspension.
