Entrepreneur Sophie Morris: ‘If you become a stay-at-home mum, by choice or not, then your self-worth is shaky. I struggled with that’
Kooky Dough founder turned nutrition expert Sophie Morris struggled with her identity as a new mother until she found the right balance and the health tools she now teaches to other women
Putting yourself first this Mother’s Day
“I was so naive,” says Sophie Morris with a laugh, as she reflects on Kooky Dough, the business she began 17 years ago. “I was 24 then and I turned 40 in 2023. It seems so long ago. I’d only ever had a proper job for six months before that.”
Naive is one word to describe how Morris was then, when she and co-founder Graham Clarke began making and selling raw cookie dough in a rolled-log shape that could be easily sliced into individual biscuits and baked at home. Brave is another word that could be used to describe how she leapt into the food business — or optimistic, enthusiastic, impassioned, or even just young.
